Our Commitment

We believe every child has the right to grow, learn, and thrive in a safe and supportive space where their voices are heard and their rights are upheld. We acknowledge that children are vulnerable and rely on adults to safeguard their wellbeing. The safety, health, and best interests of each child are central to all decisions, practices, and interactions within our service.

Prioritising Children’s Safety and Wellbeing

The safety of children is our highest priority. We have zero tolerance for any form of child abuse, neglect, or harm. All concerns are taken seriously and responded to swiftly, appropriately, and in accordance with our child protection policies and relevant legislation.

Creating Safe and Caring Environments

We provide secure, clean, and developmentally appropriate environments where children feel safe, supported, and valued.

Clear Reporting and Response

We have clear, confidential procedures for reporting and responding to concerns or allegations of harm. We act promptly to protect children and meet all reporting obligations.

Professional Standards and Child-Safe Practices

All educators, staff, volunteers, students, and contractors are expected to uphold high standards of professional conduct and child-safe practices at all times. Any breach of these expectations is taken seriously and managed in line with our policies and legal requirements.

Prevention, Supervision, and Risk Management

We actively identify, assess, and manage risks through effective supervision, safe routines, and clear policies and procedures to minimise harm.

Education, Training, and Recruitment

Child safety is embedded into every aspect of our culture. From recruitment and induction to ongoing professional development, educators and staff receive regular training in child protection, mandatory reporting, and the early identification of signs of harm.

Respectful, Empowering, and Responsive Relationships

Educators and staff build warm, trusting, and respectful relationships with children, recognising and responding to their individual needs, strengths, and voices.
We empower children by encouraging their participation and supporting them to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns, including speaking up if they feel unsafe or worried.

Inclusive, Equitable, and Culturally Safe Care

We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally safe environment for all children, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds and those with additional needs.
We recognise that some children may be more vulnerable to harm and provide additional supports and safeguards where required.
We are committed to providing culturally safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and for children from all cultural backgrounds.

Online and Digital Safety

We ensure children’s safety and privacy in digital environments, including the responsible use of technology, photography, documentation platforms, and online communication.

Partnerships with Families and Communities

We work in partnership with families, recognising them as children’s primary caregivers. We value open, transparent communication and collaborate with families and communities to build trust, safety, and respect.

Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuous improvement by regularly reviewing our child safety policies, procedures, training, and practices to ensure they reflect current best practice and evolving community expectations.

Our Commitment

Child safety is the responsibility of everyone at Busy Bees. This includes approved providers, nominated supervisors, educators, staff, volunteers, students, contractors, and visitors. This Child Safety Charter is shared with families, staff, and the wider community and is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains current, effective, and responsive. By adopting this Child Safety Charter, we affirm our commitment to upholding children’s rights, promoting their wellbeing, and ensuring that every child in our care is safe, protected, and able to learn and grow with confidence.
